Stan was one of my parents' (Derek and Moira Clark) dearest friends. They shared many of his political and moral views, and admired and supported his efforts to make the world a better place. They also loved his company: big smiles appearing whenever they met. Indeed, such was my father's attachment to Stan that on his deathbed he mentioned him, along with a handful of others, as one of the people he loved most and felt blessed to know.
